So we always wondered if there was ever an existing treat that is edible for both humans AND their dogs. Well….momma human came across an online recipe called….Dog Cookies: Treats for Man And Beast that proposes just that.
The ingredients for this recipe was pretty basic and easy to pick up at the grocery. So we decided to pull out the old kitchen aid mixer and give it a whirl. The ingredients called for..
• 2 cups whole wheat flour
• 1 tablespoon baking powder
• 1 cup peanut butter (chunk-style or smooth)
• 1 cup milk
• 2 tablespoons honey
As expected, the recipe took about 45 minutes to prepare and bake. I watched with excitement and anticipation as momma rolled the dough, cut out the cookies and placed in the oven. I even helped out a bit.
The recipe called for 25minutes of baking. But as we pulled the first batchout of the oven, we noticed it was slightly over baked. So we cut down the timing from 25min to 20min. Then the second batch turned out perfect.
Momma and Poppa human had their first bite. Apparently, the honey ingredient was the sweetness factor that would’ve made it enjoyable for humans. However, my humans found it to be a bit on the bland side. What mattered the most to them is how I felt about it. Well….I guess the picture below would give you an idea.
I truly loved my peanut butter treat! Maybe for humans, it would taste much better with a little more honey. But take caution as too much honey may not be good for dogs, especially pups.
Anyone out there have some special doggy recipes to share? If so, I would love to try them out 🙂
